Guidelines for ISNR Research Grants
Please note, we have suspended 2008 granting until further notice. Our current funds are allocated for ongoing studies.
The International Society for Neurofeedback & Research (ISNR) is committed to the professional and scientific development of neurofeedback, neurotherapy and quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG). The mission of the Research Grants Program is to support research on the effectiveness of neurofeedback and neurotherapy.
The ISNR Clinical Research Grants are awarded to ISNR members and student members. Only applied and clinically relevant projects are funded. Each applicant should show the potential of the proposed project for the advancement or effectiveness of neurofeedback and neurotherapy. Applications are here.
Please note that ISNR will retain ownership of any patents, copyrights, processes, formulas and/or any and all intellectual property resulting from research that is financially supported by ISNR. If your proposal is accepted by ISNR you will be required to sign a copyright form granting the copyright to ISNR.
Characteristics of Projects to be Supported
Projects will be selected on the basis of their merit and potential to assist in the development of outcome data showing the effectiveness of neurofeedback and neurotherapy. This would include projects that:
Produce new, clinically relevant knowledge and data. Address perceived deficiencies in the field. Identify new uses and applications of neurotherapy procedures.
Are independent replications of previous research.
Projects that use these funds to leverage larger funds will receive special consideration.
Available funding is limited.
Awardees will be required to acknowledge the financial support of the ISNR in any published reports of their funded work. They will be invited to present the results of their work at a future ISNR annual conference. They are also required to submit at least one paper pertaining to the study for possible publication in The Journal of Neurotherapy.
Grant Evaluation Criteria
Grant proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:
1. Research Idea: originality and importance to clinical practice.
2. Research Methodology: soundness of research design and methodology.
3. Ability to Complete Project: background of the principal investigator in the application area and resources to complete the research.
4. Economy of Project: return to the profession for the number of dollars expended. Detailed budgets are necessary and a semi-annual status report will be required. IRB approval is required. Before any funds are released a detailed contract between ISNR and the awardees or representative responsible agency must be completed and signed. Return of unused funds is expected.
Unfinished projects will be reviewed by the Research Grant Committee for return of funds. Research funds CANNOT be used for travel.
