KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Adam Clarke, PhD
Adam Clarke is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of Wollongong, Australia. His area of expertise is the EEG of children with ADHD, in which he has published over 50 papers on the topic.

Roberto Pasqual-Marqui, PhD
Roberto D. Pascual-Marqui received his PhD degree in biological sciences from the Cuban Neuroscience Center in 1988. He was the head of the Neurophysics Laboratory at the Cuban Neuroscience Center from 1981-1992. In 1992, he joined the Brain Mapping Laboratory, Department of Neurology, University Hospital, Zurich. Since 1996, he has been a senior research scientist at the KEY Institute for Brain-Mind Research, University Hospital of Psychiatry, Zurich. He received the "Privatedozent" degree in 2004 from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zurich. His research interests include the development of techniques for functional mapping of the human brain based on EEG and MEG, the analysis of the spatio-temporal properties of brain electric activity and its relation to the mind (cognition), and the development of tools for pattern recognition (in general).

Walter Freeman, PhD
Walter J Freeman studied physics and mathematics at M.I.T., electronics in the Navy in World War II, philosophy at the University of Chicago, medicine at Yale University, internal medicine at Johns Hopkins, and neuropsychiatry at UCLA. He has taught brain science in the University of California at Berkeley since 1959, where he is Professor of the Graduate School. He received his M.D. cum laude in 1954, the Bennett Award from the Society of Biological Psychiatry in 1964, a Guggenheim in 1965, the MERIT Award from NIMH in 1990, and the Pioneer Award from the Neural Networks Council of the IEEE in 1992. He was President of the International Neural Network Society in 1994, is Life Fellow of the IEEE, and Chair, IEEE Oakland-East Bay Section, EMBS, 2006. He has authored over 450 articles and 4 books: "Mass Action in the Nervous System" 1975, "Societies of Brains" 1995, "Neurodynamics 2000, and "How Brains Make Up Their Minds" 2001.

INVITED SPEAKERS

Mario Beauregard, PhD
Mario Beauregard is an associate research professor in the Departments of Psychology and Radiology, Neuroscience Research Center at the University of Montreal. His areas of expertise include neural basis of emotion regulation and neurofeedback. He was selected in 2000 by the World Media Net as one of the "One hundred pioneers of the 21st century". He has also received the Joel F. Lubar award from ISNR in 2006.

Dirk DeRidder, MD, PhD
Dirk De Ridder is a neurosurgeon, working in Antwerp, Belgium, whose research is focused on the pathophysiology and treatment of phantom perceptions. He developed the technique of electrical auditory cortex stimulation for tinnitus and somatosensory cortex stimulation for pain. Recently also implants were performed for auditory hallucinations.

Eran ZaidelEran Zaidel, PhD
Dr. Zaidel's research interests include: Hemispheric specialization, inter-hemispheric interactions and hemispheric control; right-hemisphere language; error monitoring; structure and function of the human corpus callosum. He is a member of the Brain Research Institute and Professor of Behavioral Neurosciences at UCLA, Deparmnet of Psychology.

M. Barry Sterman, PhD
Barry Sterman is Professor Emeritus in the departments of Neurobiology and Biobehavioral Psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine.Dr. Sterman began working in the field of neurofeedback in the 1960's when he began to explore phenomena associated with brainwaves. He is the president of the Society for the Advancement of Brain Analysis.

Filipe Fregni, MD, PhD
Dr. Fregni has been the Director of Clinical Trials Network at The Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation since March, 2003. He is also Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. His interests lie in the study of methods of non-invasive brain stimulation such as repetitive magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS).

Guillermo van Weilink, MD
Guillermo van Wielink is a pediatric neurologist with post doctoral training specialties in neurology and pediatricneurology from John Hopkins Hospital and National Institutes of Mental Health in Mexico. He is the author of eight books about the brain and many on AD/HD.

Martien de Voigt, PhD
Dr. de Voigt is a full professor in Physics, nuclear medical applications, retired. Licensed Consultant and Docent Tomatis method, Mozart-Brain-Lab, Belgium. Tomatis Auditory therapeutic centre, Netherlands.

Participants not fulfilling these requirements will not receive a certificate. Certificates are available immediately after completing the online evaluation form.
